The Study of Alla Prima with the figure

This 3 day painting workshop will focus on strengthening the ability to quickly recognize and apply the essential components necessary to achieve a convincing impression of the human figure in oils.
Working alla prima will offer the opportunity to rapidly prioritize the information necessary for each stage.
We will start with quick pose block-ins for gesture, volume and basic structural accuracy, moving through to a 4-5 hour long pose, with the emphasis on value, color and form.
These principles will be analyzed in a logical sequence of repetitive exercises, beginning with gesture and block-ins continuing through to a long pose with the opportunity to apply the principles practiced.
The workshop will be highlighted with demonstrations of these methods and concepts accompanied by question and answer sessions. The format of this workshop will accommodate students of all levels who enjoy working from life.
